I’m the Knitting Fairy Godmother. My name is Valerie and I see the world through a yarn-lovers lens. There is A LOT of engineering and hard science required to knit a sock. And it’s a functional garment? And it’s a piece of wearable art? We create something from nothing - sticks and flimsy string, which is mysterious. Maybe even magic? That’s what I like – the place between science and magic.

I am a teacher (seriously, I have the credentials). I teach crochet and knitting. I’ll teach you how to get double joy out of every project. The joy of making and the joy of wearing. I absolutely wear what I make, especially when it’s cold out.

My professional career has been in Retail; behind the register, at the corporate office and in the field supporting remote districts. I’ve spent over 20 years planning inventory for manufacturing, big box and independent retail brands. I graduated from Old Dominion University with a Bachelor of Science in Fashion Merchandising.

I've lived all over the country. Right now, I live in Maryland but you might see me at a fiber festival. If we run into each other – say hello and we’ll fangirl over some fiber!
